The hood with swan neck pediment and dentil cornice mouldings, later brass ball and eagle finial, arched line inlaid trunk door flanked by chamfered angles, on plinth with bracket feet, the 13in. wide white painted dial with female seasonal spandrels, Arabic chapter ring with subsidiary seconds and date rings to the centre also painted with raised gilt flowers, signed Geo.e Stuart Newcastle, with engraved brass hands, with terrestrial orbs above to the painted rolling moon, with falseplate to the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on inverted bell -- 92in. (234cm.) high
