An Edwardian mahogany quarter-chiming longcase clock, early 20th century
The breakarch hood with brass ball and spire finials, outset brass reeded columns, sound frets to the sides, the trunk with glazed door with moulded frame and flanked by reeded columns with Corinthian capitals, on stepped and panelled plinth with wavy apron, the 12in. wide brass dial with engraved foliate openwork spandrels and conforming centre to a silvered chapter ring with applied Arabic chapters, chime/silent lever by 3, with subsidiary seconds ring to the centre, blued steel hands, rolling moon to the arch, the substantial eight day movement with deadbeat escapement and hour strike on tubular bells with quarter chimes on four tubular bells (three bells lacking) -- 98in. (249cm.) high
