A George III mahogany quarter-chiming longcase clock, late 18th century
The case carved to front and sides with blind fret and foliate designs, the swan neck hood with outset reeded columns, conforming half columns to the trunk, the 12in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with crossed half minute track, matted centre with subsidiary seconds disc and date aperture, signed on an arched plaque LACON, Cavendish Square, with strike/silent ring in the arch, blued steel later arrow hands, the eight day five pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell, with quarter chimes on eight nested bells; later seatboard(?), some carving possibly later -- 92in. (234cm.) high
