An English oak longcase clock
With swan neck cresting with flowerhead-carved caps, painted mock verre eglomisé cornice, cushion-framed hood door, the cross-banded trunk door with undulating arch top, flanked by reeded half columns, the trunk with quatreform inlays and reeded chamfered angles, on bracket feet, the 13in. square cut-away brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, the centre engraved with foliate scrolls and an urn, painted Halifax moon and arched date aperture, signed Thos. Lister/HALIFAX, later hands, the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; built up cheekboards, dial and case last quarter 18th century and with associated movement -- 85¼in. (217cm.) high
