Lot Essay

The composition of Otto Carl Friedrich is after the painting from circa 1790 (E. Berckenhagen, Anton Graff: Leben und Werk, Berlin, 1967, p. 327, fig. 1231). The portrait of Henriette Eleonore Elisabeth is after another hand.

The sitters married on 9 December 1779. Otto von Schönburg-Waldenburg was born in Waldburg on 2 February 1758 and died on 29 January 1800 at Schloss Lichtenstein.
