The use of oak and poplar in the construction of the console tables leave no doubt that they are French. However the centre tables and the bureau plat have a pine carcass, with sparing use of maple and oak. The two centre tables have been veneered to the underside with alderwood, a common practise in Germany in the first half of the 19th century. We can therefore quite safely assume that Lots 399 and 400 are German, even though they hardly follow typically German lines. Most likely the console tables were imported from France, and the bureau and the tables were comissioned locally to match the console tables.
