One of the horses in the race in the present lot possibly depicts Jack Spigot, winner of the St. Leger at Doncaster in 1821.The jockey was Scott and the horse was bred by Hon. T.O. Powlett at Bolton Stud Wensley, Leyburn, North Yorkshire.
