Lot Essay
The printed silk is "Mikado" pattern (Ref. No. 413), designed by Ugo Zovetti between 1910 and 1912 - the short period during which he worked for the Wiener Werkstätte.
The present blouse bears close similarities to the work of Eduard Wimmer. It is comparable also to some of Peche's fashion designs of this period, but is considered more likely to be the creation of Eduard Wimmer.
cf. Angela Völker, Textiles of the Wiener Werkstätte 1910 - 1932, New York, 1994, p. 99 archive photo of a blouse by Wimmer illustrated, and p. 244, Cat. No. 1298, the textile design referenced. See also: Dagobert Peche and the Wiener Werkstätte, Peter Noever, ed., Neue Galerie exhibition catalogue, New York, 11 October 2002 - 10 February, 2003, p. 420, No. 287, comparable but more fitted blouse by Peche illustrated.
