PROPERTY OF THE DESCENDANTS OF JAMES RYAN
James Ryan was Louis C. Tiffany's chauffeur from August, 1911, until Tiffany's death in 1933. As a result of his long association with Tiffany he acquired numerous Tiffany-related publications and records, as well as some correspondence, especially related to the publication of The Artwork of Louis C. Tiffany in 1914 offered here as lot 186. He was also in a unique position to capture on film some images of Tiffany's later life in Florida, offered in the following lot. This film offers a fascinating and intimate glimpse of Tiffany's life at "Comfort Lodge", his home in Miami Beach, which he shared with companion Sarah Hanley.
