Peter Strausfeld designed these Medea posters specifically for the arthouse Academy Cinema on Oxford Street. The artist, Strausfeld, was a close friend of the Academy's director, George Hoellering, who greatly admired his work, and commissioned him to design all the posters for the Academy from the 1950s until his death in 1980.
