Lot Essay

Leonardo DiCaprio plays a dual role in the film - that of King Louis XIV and his identical twin, Philippe, who is condemned from birth to be imprisoned for life, his head encased in a gruesome iron mask, without any knowledge of his true identity. This cloak is similar to that worn by DiCaprio as Philippe during the scene when the iron mask is removed.
