A prop sword, the curved steel blade etched and painted in gold and black with Egyptian-style motifs, the hilt covered in red felt and applied with strips of brown leather in a lattice pattern terminating in a tassel of brown leather trimmed with fur, the pommel formed as a skull, the composition moulding painted to simulate bone, with corresponding scabbard of brown suede trimmed with brown leather -- 46in. (117cm.) long -- made for Amrish Puri as Mola Ram in the 1984 Paramount/Lucasfilm film Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom; accompanied by a document concerning the provenance (2)

Lot Essay

This sword appears to have been made for use in the film by the character Mola Ram but is not seen in the final version of the film. Interestingly, the toy figure of Mola Ram manufactured in the U.S. by L.J.N. in 1984, depicts him holding an identical sword to this one.
