A rare Märklin demonstrational horizontal steam generator set of large size
on two separate tiled painted bases, one with spirit-fired heat trough boiler, painted in black and incorporating a quantity of transverse water tubes, steam fittings include lever safety valve, sight glass, pressure gauge, blow-down cocks and three set cast-iron fire door; the whole set in vented casing and fitted with inspection gallery, steps and chimney, fired by a large flat can three-head vaporising spirit lamp; dimensions : overall base 86cm (34in.) by 46cm. (18in.), height to chimney top 118cm. (46½in.), burner 54cm. (21¼in.) by 15cm.(6in.) high. Second base with twin horizontal flat bed engine and dynamo, incorporating twin double-acting cylinders with piston valves, with running and displacement lubricators, connecting rods to flywheel shaft, valve eccentrics and supplying feed water pump, bearing surfaces supplied with cup lubricators also fitted with centrally mounted centrifugal governor, end mounted dynamo driven from flywheel surface belt, painted in lined brown and black, a non-original Märklin line shaft added, base 85cm. (33.182in.) x 45cm. (17¾in.), circa 1914 (F-G, some minor corrosion and paint loss, boiler casing, straps, steps, gallery floor, chimney, chimney breast and weight lever end repainted, belts and nuts replaced in some parts, lacks lifting eyes, wooden base added under generator and two-step line shaft added)
