Provenance: John Philip Kemble (1757-1823), great Shakespearean actor (his characteristic inlaying of leaves; inscription on margin round title: "Collated & Perfect J.P.K. 1798; his library sold 26 January 1821); William Cavendish, sixth Duke of Devonshire (1790-1858); Jerome Kern (bookplate; his sale, Anderson Galleries, 2 November 1927, lot 135).
