WASHINGTON, George. Autograph letter signed ("Go: Washington"), to Battaile Muse, Mount Vernon, 27 October 1785. 1 page, oblong folio, mat burn. AN UNPUBLISHED WASHINGTON NOTE. Washington writes this note to his rent collector, the colorfully named Battaile Muse, from his Mount Vernon home: "I acknowledge that I have purchased from Mr. Battaile Muse, one thousand bushels of wheat, which is to be clean, sound and merchantable, and that I am to pay for the same (delivered at my Mill) in the latter part of March or in April next, when he comes to this place, Six Shillings per Bushel."
