Lot Essay

The composition reflects the influence of both Perugino and Pinturicchio: the central group is reversed in a panel formerly at Finch College, New York, attributed by Todini (op. cit., fig. 1203) to 'Rocco Zoppo'. The present picture is regarded by Todini as an early work by the painter of a tondo in the Accademia Etrusca, Cortona, to whom a number of other tondi have been attributed.
