Further details
"By 1913, Tootsie Dick was becoming the most influential weaver in Antelope Valley, building on and perfecting the concepts introduced by Minnie Dick, and adding innovations of her own. Tootsie preferred complex motifs, some drawn from beadwork. After 1915, she frequently adapted Sarah Mayo's representational images ..., emphasizing decoratively abstract bird, butterfly, and bug motifs. Tootsie also transformed Sarah's tree motif into bush- and stalklike patterns distinguished by extreme complexity and rigid symmetry," (Cahodas in Wade 1986, page 215).
