A William IV teapot
of compressed moulded circular form, on a rim foot and with a squat rising curved spout, moulded body band, scroll handle and domed hinged cover with later circular finial, the underside engraved; "Arthur's Club, St. James's Strt.", Messrs. Barnard, London 1835, the finial with a later hallmark - 3¾in. (9.50cm.), 15oz.
Further details
Arthur's Club was a gentleman's club based in St. James's. Upon its closure the chattels including the silver were mainly purchased by the Carlton Club, although certain items were sold to members as keepsakes.
