This eagle was mounted on the outside of the gatekeeper's house at Boston's Copps Hill Burial Ground. Founded in 1639, the cemetery is one of Massachusetts' oldest landmarks and is home to the graves of many patriots and Puritans, including Increase (1639-1723) and Cotton Mather (1663-1728). The gatekeeper's house was demolished in the 1920s and the eagle was salvaged and placed in a private collection.
