This apparently unique service displays the arms of the eight great-grandparents of Adriaan van Reverhorst (1720-51) of the Hague or of his brother Theodorus (1706-58), both prominent in the V.O.C. Le Corbeiller (op. cit., pp. 96-99) notes that the service "must have been unusually extensive", and that this covered shape, based on a silver form, is apparently unique within either Delft or Chinese export
