A caricature by Gaulli of the painter Mario de'Fiori, which bears an inscription in the same hand as that on the present drawing and the date '25 Agosto 1666', is in the Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica, Rome (M. Fagliolo dell'Arco et al., Giovan Battista Gaulli, il Baciccio, exhib. cat., Ariccia, Palazzo Chigi, 1999, no. 63, pl. 2 [the illustration reversed]).
This is one of very few known caricatures by Gaulli.
