Of circular barrel form with pierced upright handles, the flat notched cover with pinecone finial, painted front and back in iron-red and turquoise and enriched in gilt with a Chinoiserie scene of a fisherman in a boat at the left, a pavilion on an island at the right, a distictive tree in the center, the vignette reserved within a gilt oval and alternate with a circular gilt medallion reserved on an iron-red ground and enclosing a single flower, the cover en suite

As the cover and box fit perfectly and are painted in the same palette, by the same hand, with the same scenes. They have, therefore, been described as belonging together despite the fact that the iron-red markings vary.
