The present composition is a variant of the painting formerly in the George Encil collection, Bahamas (see R. Pallucchini, La Pittura Veneziana del Seicento, 1981, I, p. 648), and subsequently sold at Sotheby's, London, 12 December 1990, lot 60 (£27,500).
