Lot Essay

Designed by WIlliam Starling Burgess, Enterprise was an engineering marvel, weighing one third less than her competitors. in the 1930 America's Cup, she swept past her four American rivals and beat Shamrock V in four staright races. All this in spite of being the smallest of the J-Class yachts at Newport with a waterline length of 80 feet.
