Although dated 1918, these retrospective works probably depict the raid on the East Anglian fishing port of Lowestoft on 25th April 1916. A squadron of German battle-cruisers stood off the coast and bombarded the town for about half-an-hour until chased off by local naval forces, the raid resulting in twenty-five casualties.
