There is a drawer in the frieze of this lot which bears the label 'Lady Ludlow collection' Provenance: Lady Ludlow. After the death of Sir Julius Wernher in 1912, his widow Alice (1862-1945) remarried Lord Ludlow. Lady Ludlow continued to live at Bath House, Piccadilly, and many objects from the Wernher collection there bear her label.
