From the Goldscheider ceramic factory, established by Friederich Goldscheider, a Czech by birth who settled in Vienna in the 1870s. Soon afterwards he established his factory, the Goldscheider'sche Porzellan-Manufaktur und Majolica-Fabrik, and to sustain popular demand opened a second works in Karlsbad. In 1891 the firm was granted the patent for producing wares decorated with a bronze effect, but do not seem to have been involved in producing actual bronzes until the turn of the century. By this time Goldscheider had died and his widow Regina was running the firm.
