An English stoneware basket, a Pratt ware-type jug and two creamware plates
THE BASKET CIRCA 1840, PERHAPS BRAMPTON, THE JUG EARLY 19TH CENTURY; THE PLATES SECOND HALF OF THE 18TH CENTURY
The honey-coloured stoneware basket moulded to the flared exterior, with a loop basket weave-moulded handle; the jug moulded in high relief with a half-length portrait of a farmer to each side within a shaped oval cartouche and below a border of moulded trailing grasses, enriched in blue and ochre glazes and with a loop handle and acanthus leaf terminal; the first creamware plate of Whieldon-type mottled with brown, green, yellow and grey glazes to the foot and a speckled brown glaze to the reverse, within rope-moulded shaped rims; the second of octagonal form, speckled with a brown glaze within a milled rim
