Princess Alexandra modelled looking slightly to her right, with her hair up and entwined with beads, wearing drop earrings, an embroidered dress and laced robe across her right shoulder; a lion jelly-mould; a Prince of Wales plumes jelly-mould; a chick mould; and a quatrefoil leaf jelly-mould

Lot Essay

Cf. Richard Dennis, The Parian Phenomenon, p. 182, pl. 597; this bust was issued on the engagement of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and two versions exist. The Princess wears earrings in the earlier version.
