LAWRENCE, T.E. Autograph letter signed ("T.E. Lawrence"), to [H. Hamshaw] Thomas, All Souls College, Oxford, 11 October [1920]. 2 pages, 8vo, a little browning at edges.
LAWRENCE CONSIDERS THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS. Declining an invitation to speak in Cambridge, Lawrence takes a pessimistic view of the League of Nations and its role in the Middle East: "...the only hope of the League is to keep out of the Middle East. Indeed I suspect the League is going to fail. It could have been imposed by USA & England on an unwilling world: but England & France cannot long run in honourable harness."
