LAWRENCE, T.E. (1888-1935). Autograph letter signed ("T.E.S."), to his neighbor Mrs. Knowles, Plymouth, 23 November 1932. 1 page, 4to.
Lawrence informs his neighbor that he intends to replace the flower beds in the garden at Clouds Hill with gravel: "...I hate flowers round a house. I will write to mother, soon, and tell her the house-works are going ahead, and will involve getting rid of her flower-beds...Unreasonable beings, mothers, aren't they? She knows I can't stand any sort of garden or plants...Yet she would cheerfully spoil the place for me!"
