A North Italian bronze mortar
Probably Alberghetti foundry, mid 16th century
The rim with an alternating stiff-leaf band, each side of the body with a winged monster with fruiting cornucopia flanked by masks, two plain handles, marked with the number 3 twice, the lobed base above a waisted foot
6 5/8in. (16.8cm.) diameter, 5 5/8in. (14.3cm.) high
