COMPARATIVE LITERATURE: Motture Bells & Mortars V&A, 2001. No.59: a mortar of the same design with a similar brassy surface. On the present mortar and the V&A example, the vine pattern is in two panels, one complete, centred by the acanthus leaf, the other from the left-hand side as a repeat.
