Late 17th or early 18th century
Modelled as figures carrying baskets of fish, the steel blade, struck with the London cutlers' dagger and maker's mark HOW, contained within a pressed leather case
The fork -- 7in. (17.8cm.) high, the knife -- 8¾in. (22.2cm.) high (2)

Reference is made to William and Mary's reign, during which many Dutch knives with carved ivory hafts were imported. The English cutler's revived their own haft-carving skills, but many also relied upon importing carved examples from Dieppe.
