A CHINESE BLACK AND GOLD LACQUER EIGHT-LEAF SCREEN
LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY
Decorated overall with Courtly scenes and processions with temples, pavilions and extensive island landscapes, each leaf of unusual shape with a triple-arched serpentine toprail, the reverse also decorated with large scale panels of birds, insects and butterflies around stems of cherry blossom and squirrels devouring grapes on a vine and birds, with later gilt-embossed leather fringe hinge borders
