FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY TO CHRISTINA ROSSETTI. With a charming letter from Tyrwhitt to her, in which the author encloses some violets 'from the gardens at Blenheim' and inquires of her favourite flower and whether 'it travels well by post.' Tyrwhitt also recounts details of his recent journey to Yorkshire and Great Grimsby, where his brother is building a new Mission church for fishermen, wishing to leave 'some memorial' of their family descendants who landed there from Norway as Vikings. With autograph slip in William M. Rossetti's hand reading 'Letter from author to Christina R. Her own Inscription.'

TENNYSON, Alfred, 1st Baron (1809-1892). The Princess. A Medley. London: Edward Moxon, 1847. 8° (169 x 100mm). 4 advertisement leaves at rear. (D1 with short marginal tear, occasional thumb-soiling.) Contemporary red Jansenist morocco, top edge gilt (extremities rubbed). Provenance: 'Rossetti' (name inscribed in two different hands on front blank and first advertisement leaf) -- James W. Ellsworth (bookplate). FIRST EDITION. Although this poem, dealing with the theme of the education of women, would have interested Christina, neither signature has a strong likeness to her own or her two brothers' signatures. Hagen pp. 73-80; Wise Tennyson 25.
