(First leaf stained, neat tear.) Red cloth case. Provenance: Walter Theodore Watts (1832-1914, inscribed 'W.T. Watts Esq., 3 Putney Hill, Putney S.W.'). The Sailing of the Swallow was the first canto of Tristam of Lyonesse (London: Chatto and Windus, 1882), which Swinburne dedicated to Watts (later Watts-Dunton). It was first printed in the Gentleman's Magazine in 1877.

Original maroon cloth (corners worn). Provenance: association copy (inscribed on half-title: 'W.T. Watts Dunton from A.L. Swinburne, May 6th 1903'). From 1879 until Swinburne's death in 1909, Watts-Dunton undertook the care and organisation of his life, sharing his home, 'The Pines', in Putney with him. (2)
