This commode is related to one of very similar proportions in the Louvre (inv. OA9305, see D. Alcouffe, A. Dion-Tenenbaum & A. Lefébure, Furniture Collections in the Louvre, Dijon, 1993, p.107), which, with its mounts cast with winged masks and ormolu-bordered drawer fronts displays the oeuvre of the celebrated ébéniste François Lieutaud. A commode related to the latter and stamped by Lieutaud is illustrated in A. Pradère, French Furniture Makers, London, 1989, pp.118-19.
