The Raingo dynasty was founded by the horloger Raingo, who fled Paris around 1800, possibly because of Royalist affiliations. Settling initially in Gand, Belgium, he is later listed as clockmaker to the duc de Chartres in 1825. The firm became Raingo fr/geres was founded circa 1825 and flourished as fondeurs throughtout the 19th Century.
