An early Victorian Scottish mahogany longcase clock, circa 1840
The hood with swan neck cresting with three brass ball and eagle finials (not illustrated), outset spiral-twist columns, conforming pilasters flanking the short trunk door, with Bible-back moulding below, on panelled plinth (lacking feet), the 13½in. wide painted dial with female seasonal spandrels, scene to the arch of COTTARS SATURDAY NIGHT, with Roman chapters and subsidiary seconds and date rings, signed THOS FLEMING FALKIRK, with brass hands, pinned directly to the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 83in. (211cm.) high
