A George III mahogany and parquetry inlaid longcase clock, circa 1790
The hood with star inlaid cresting flanked by brass ball and spire finials, glazed side panels and outset brass stop-fluted columns, with shallow-arched trunk door and on plain plinth (damages, lacking feet), the 12in. wide white painted dial (retouched) with subsidiary seconds and date rings to centre, signed Carlen Thetford, with strike/silent ring in the arch, with falseplate to the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 84½in. (205cm.) high
