A George III oak and mahogany longcase clock, late 18th century
The Gothic revival case with blind-fret panelling to the swan neck pediment, outset cluster columns to the hood, with tracery mouldings above a tracery-arched trunk door flanked by cluster pilasters, on stepped panelled plinth with chamfered angles, the 13in. wide painted Roman and Arabic dial with floral spandrels and decorated with cornucopia to the arch, the centre with subsidiary seconds ring and arched date aperture, signed Rob.t Fletcher/Chester, brass hands, with falseplate to the the eight day five pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 93¼in. (237cm.) high
