This table is constructed of mahogany, with rosewood (possibly calamander) central panel, and not walnut as stated in the catalogue.

Please note also that the provenance for this lot should read:
"This lot, and also lots 531 and 532, was purchased directly from Wharton Esherick by the present owner, namely, the son of close family friends of Esherick and his wife, who in his youth lived for several years with the Eshericks at their home in Pennsylvania".

Lot Essay

This table was created by Esherick for his then roommate and close friend. The stool and pair of armchairs in the following two lots are from the same source. All four items have remained with the original owner until now.
