A pair of panels; worked in coloured silks to cream satin grounds, applied with seed pearls, depicting a central floral motif flanked by two ladies, dressed in 17th century costume, holding symbols of water, earth, fire and air, seated beneath trees, one with a recumbent leopard and lion beside them, the other with a recumbent deer and unicorn beside them--each 4 x 16in. (10 x 40.5cm.), splitting to silk ground, some loss of silk ground and general surface discolouration, English, mid to late 17th century, framed as one
