Major General Dickson C.B., full face in scarlet coat with gold epaulettes and wearing the Most Honourable Order of the Bath and the Army Large Gold Medal 1806-14, holding the Marmaluke hilt of his sword

Lot Essay

Harriet Dallas (1797-1876) was the daughter of Lieutenant General Sir Thomas Dallas. She married Major General Dickson, C.B. of Beenham House, Berkshire and was the mother of Lady Neeld, wife of Sir John Neeld, Bt. of Grittleton, Wiltshire.

William Dickson was Major General Dickson's youngest son. He served in the 16th (Queen's) Lancers and later became Lieutenant General William Dickson in 1896.
