Here is the British eight, straining every muscle in their endeavour to win the race. The picture was inspired by a small newspaper cutting and as it was a sideways view I had the task of re-arranging them like this so I could better show the effort involved. The water was difficult but I think I've made rather a good job of it. For one who does not participate in any way I show an unusual interest in sport. I don't really mind which side is winning so it must be the movement of the bodies that appeals and I've painted boxing, wrestling, soccer, bowling and roller-skating as well as these rowers' (see B. Cook, op. cit)
