The Bijbel Kiosk Vereniging was founded in the summer of 1928 following a perceived absence of the promotion of Evangelical literature in the Netherlands. So-called 'Bible-kiosks' were positioned at a variety of locations such as fairs, beaches, markets, and city centers, allowing for an effective circulation of Evangelical booklets and pamphlets. The Bijbel Kiosk Vereniging also produced Evangelical literature including bibles for children and the illiterate which were embellished with especially commissioned artworks of which the following lots are compelling examples. The artists were commissioned to travel to the Holy Land in order to execute their subjects first hand, resulting in this delightful collection. The following works derive from a family member of one of the founders of the Bible Kiosk.
