He is modelled seated on tree-stump applied with flowering bocage, wearing a black plumed, wide-brimmed hat, pink-scale-print jacket painted with flowers and matching trousers applied with yellow ribbons, holding a bunch of flowers, with a faithful dog at his feet, on a turquoise and green scroll-moulded base; she is modelled seated on a similar stump, wearing a turquoise bodice applied with pink ribbons, and a full-skirt painted with sprays of iron-red flowers, balancing a yellow, plummed, wide-brimmed hat on her knee, with a sheep at her feet
