A SUPERB COLLECTION OF HIGHEST QUALITY BORDEAUX FIRST-GROWTHS, MAINLY FROM THE GREAT 1982 VINTAGE
Lying in Gloucestershire at Christie's (Octavian)
Offered duty-paid, but available in bond
Offered in original wooden cases except 6 bottles in lot 40
This remarkable selection of Bordeaux, lots 20 to 44, encompasses some of the greatest wines to be produced from that region in the last two decades. Many of the first-growths of the legendary 1982 vintage are included as well as the great Margaux 1983 and Latour also of the great 1990 vintage. A unique aspect of this offering is that these wines have never been moved from their bonded storage since original purchase by the owner or their agent, following each vintage and all are in original wooden cases. This is a rare opportunity to acquire some of the most impressive wines produced in post-war Bordeaux history with the additional guarantee of this uninterrupted cellarage and rarely available long-term provenance
Château Latour--Vintage 1982
Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
These cases have been prepared for shipment to the U.S.A and have U.S. slip labels but it is important to note that they have never left the U.K. since original shipment from France
Tasting note: emitting 'warm', ripe cedary and redcurrant scents. Surprisingly sweet, very amenable despite its tannic grip. delicious. Twenty glorious years ahead. M.B. (April 2001)
