Lot Essay

Although unlabelled the work is typical in style and quality to that of the celebrated firm of VAN INGEN & VAN INGEN of Mysore, India. This firm was founded, circa 1905, and continued in the same area until 1995. In their heyday, before the second world war, they were responsible for some of the best big game taxidermy in the world, becoming particularly sought after for their tiger mounts.
By repute this tiger was a maneater.
